How do I find people who need business cards?

I am a designer in Kansas City who creates full color business cards, but I just don't know HOW to sell them to businesses. I go door to door to each business (hair salons, bakerys, Car Dealerships, etc.) Pretty much every store on the block.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I walk in, show them my business card compared to theirs, and explain that they are really inexpensive and personalized. I've only sold about 8 card designs in 3 months. WHY CAN'T I SELL MORE!!

It's not the designs either because people are awed by my previously made cards.

HELP PLEASE!!

How do I find people who need business cards?
Perhaps people aren't buying because, no matter how impressed they are with your product, they already have a supplier who meets their needs.

Thus, I suggest marketing to NEW business owners - through local business owners groups, young professionals organizations, and your community's Better Business Bureau.

Also - try putting your business on www.whitepages.com and be sure to include a tag line in your ad.

Lastly, advertise on Craig's List.
Reply:You are selling to people who already have business cards. That's like going to McDonald's and trying to sell Whoppers. And telling people that your cards are better than the ones they have, well its simply insulting. They made a decision that they are probably happy with and you are criticizing them. Who'd want to do business with you after that? I don't doubt your talents and I certainly appreciate your efforts to see your busines succeed. To that I wish you every success. Its your sales pitch that needs improving. There are many books on the subject. I personally recommend works by Zig Ziegler. It's old, but highly effective. And you didn't mention price. I just purchased 1000 business cards on line for less than $20 which I designed myself (and yes, I am a qualified graphic artist). Can you be as competitive? Work on your sales angle and you might see more positive response. Good luck!
Reply:Why don't you try placing an ad in the business classifieds? You can reach more people this way. You could put a different sample in the ad evey week. Try it and I hope it works. Good luck!
Reply:Get a job delivering lunches to offices. Re-wrap the food in your own packaging which advertises your product. Until you get fired!
Reply:Have u tried a marketing firm-or how about a web site
