Reply:Do you have your port folio on line for people to see your work. Advertise in paper, I guess. Word of mouth. I am sure someone out there will have better advice than what I can give. Working from home usually relies on word of mouth from the people who have already used you for their logos etc. If your work is really good then it should be pretty easy to get more work that way.
Reply:And your question would be....?
Reply:Wouldn't we all like a little more money. You may want to consider entering some of your work in the contests on these sites: http://www.smilelikeumeanit.com/stock.ht...
Reply:Sorry these days my friend anyone who has been using photoshop for six months is considered a graphic designer but what is your question?
Reply:I was a sign painter for 35 years--I lettered anything from boats to vehicles and also did gold leaf on fire engines. My talent developed over the years and I gradually increased my hourly rate as my scope of abilities grew. I was getting 75 to 100 dollars an hour--but I was fast, and honest. Now I do illustrating for magazines, the post office, and one of a kind artwork for a select clientelle. I do Norman Rockwell style work. I still get 1000 dollars an hour plus supplies. The down payment I require will cover the job in case I have a non paying person---that does happen. You are doing artwork and not everyone can do it--so don't be afraid to charge your price. For a business, the art costs are the cost of doing business---all businesses need art and signs. See what other area shops are charging--you need to stay up with them--otherwise you will have issues with them.....they may feel you are deliberately undercutting them for the business, ....NOT A GOOD REPUTATION to have. I worked on a cash basis--no checks--no claims to my taxes--I am also a professional firefighter---my art is done on my days off.....the money was spending cash for fun. You need it for living--so get that business going strong.
