How long after getting a freelance writing job should you make business cards for yourself?
How long do you plan on staying in business? Make them Generic.
Reply:You should do it right away. If you don't it will look like you're not working at all!
Reply:Make them yourself and do it right away. Opportunity only knocks once and if you're not prepared for the moment then you lose out.
Reply:I'd say prove you can earn a living at it for at least a year and you have a good portfolio and references, along with enough clients to keep you working.
Reply:I'm with the first answerer. Freelance writing is not an easy job and can take years to establish yourself. Developing business cards right away only to find yourself without clients would be a waste of time and money.

Develop a strong portfolio, network, establish excellent clients, and when you think it's solid, go for it. In the meantime, if anyone asks simply respond with, "I am in the process of building my client list and have not had the opportunity just yet to create them. I can give you my [insert contact info] so you can reach me."

Have fun and good luck!
Reply:Get them right away. It should be part of your marketing plan. If you don't have a plan, talk to someone and get one. Marketing yourself is key.
