Is it bad etiquette to hand write something on my business cards?

I've been adding my extension on there, didn't know if there was a status quo for this sort of thing?

Is it bad etiquette to hand write something on my business cards?
Absolutely not. Incomplete information is a big problem for people who have your card and try to reach you. No one would toss a box of cards just for lack of an extension number. Just make the correction neatly.
Reply:Perfectly okay. Its been done many times.

. . . just keep it clean.
Reply:Borderline...

It is more of an impression issue. It reflects badly on you if you've been doing it for more than a week or so.

Have new cards printed, and print them in smaller lots.
Reply:No, it just looks a little unprofessional (as if your company couldn't afford to give you personalized cards with all the correct information).

But if you've had a direct conversation with the person and they've expressed an interest in contacting you further, it's okay, because it shows that you are giving them "special treatment" by giving them direct access to you.
Reply:It doesn't look very professional...If it is an extension to a public number or you are giving an additional phone number where you can be reached...maybe write the number on the back of the card, BUT if you had your phone number changed...I would say get some new cards printed up!

It would look pretty tacky to have the phone number crossed out and a new one written in.
Reply:did your extention change or something?

i dont see the problem with adding an extention. I have seen it done on business cards many times and have never thought twice about it.
